Are you already a Senior Section member and want to find out more? Want to join but don't know much about it? Read on to find out more about us.
WHO ARE WE?
Senior Section are girls and young women aged between 14 and 25. You can choose whether you want to be a Ranger or Young Leader (or both) and when you reach 18 a Guider.
Rangers are aged 14 to 25 and meet weekly in groups - the emphasis is on you deciding what activities you want to do.
Young Leaders are Leaders in training aged 14 to 18 and help out every week with a local Rainbow, Brownie or Guide unit. You can also be a Ranger too.
Leaders are aged 18 to 65 (once you reach 26 you will not be called a member of the Senior Section anymore). You have to successfully complete the Leadership Qualification and then you can run a local Rainbow, Brownie, Guide or Senior Section unit.
WHAT DO WE DO?
Look Wider is the flexible programme for Senior Section which is designed to help you do what you want to do and get the most out of life. You can work on your own, with someone else or in a team. You'll have the opportunity to develop new skills and experience exciting challenges.
For example, you could have a go at silk painting, reflexology, climbing or scuba-diving. If you fancy helping out in a unit or even leading one, there's loads of opportunities open to Rangers too. As members of the Senior Section you may also get the opportunity to represent Girlguiding around the world at conferences and camps.
WHAT DO WE WEAR?
There is a Senior Section uniform which consists of a blouse, polo, rugby or sweat shirt. You can wear pretty much whatever you like on your bottom half.
ARE YOU ALREADY A SENIOR SECTION MEMBER?
Are you 16 years old? If so you could start working towards the Girlguiding UK Leadership Qualification and become more involved in helping other sections.
Are you 18 years old? If so you can work towards gaining your warrant which will enable you to run your own group.
Whatever age group you are, becoming a leader will open up many opportunities, be very rewarding and a great deal of fun.
If you want to find out a bit more about becoming a leader check out our Adults page.
